COVID-19: J&K records highest ever spike in cases as 751 more test positive, tally 14650 | KNO

Srinagar district alone has more cases than in whole Jammu division

Srinagar, July 20 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Monday recorded the highest ever spike in Covid positive cases since the outbreak of pandemic in March this year as 751 cases tested positive taking the tally to 14650. The new cases include 164 travelers, 50 CRPF men and 16 Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) employees. Among 751 new cases, 511 belong to Kashmir division while as 240 are from Jammu division, officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 11623 including 6474 recoveries and 234 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 3027 including 1800 recoveries and 20 deaths. The officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 6122 including 4915 from Kashmir division and 1207 from Jammu division. With 463 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 8274 which is 56.47 percent of the total cases which was over 63 percent few days before. Pertinently, Srinagar district alone has 3070 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 3027. Cases tested positive in J&K include 171 from Srinagar, 40 from Baramulla, 62 from Shopian, 11 from Anantnag, 03 from Kupwara, 111 from Pulwama, 94 from Budgam, 09 from Bandipora and 10 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 240 from Jammu division include 12 from Jammu, 13 from Kuthua, 23 from Rajouri, 33 from Udhampur, 90 from Ramban, 02 from Samba, 32 from Doda, 01 from Poonch and 12 from Reasi. As per officials figures, 3070 positive cases including 63 deaths and 1253 recoveries are from Srinagar, 1623 including 53 deaths and 906 recoveries are from Baramulla, 1147 including 861 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Kulgam, 1165 including 19 deaths and 784 recoveries are from Shopian, 1071 including 18 deaths and 708 recoveries are from Anantnag, 918 including 544 recoveries and 15 deaths are from Kupwara, 999 including 514 recoveries and 14 deaths are from Pulwama, 865 including 430 recoveries and 19 deaths are from Budgam, 464 including 351 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Bandipora, 301 including 123 recoveries and 04 death are from are from Ganderbal. In Jammu division, 636 including 437 recoveries and 12 deaths are from Jammu district, 373 including 251 recoveries and 01 death are from Kathua, 402 including 119 recoveries and 02 death are from Rajouri, 364 including 299 recoveries and 01 death is from Udhampur, 408 including 231 recoveries are from Ramban, 330 including 176 recoveries and 01 death are from Samba, 193 including 02 death and 88 recoveries are from Samba, 193 including 88 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Doda, 153 including 125  recoveries and 01 death is from Poonch and 90 including 29 recoveries are from Kishtwar and 78 including 45 recoveries are from Reasi. As per the daily information bulletin, 331,954 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 37,885 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 6122 persons are in hospital isolation while 13 persons are under hospital quarantine. According to the bulletin, 244,948 persons have completed surveillance period and 42,732 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 518,029 samples are available. Out of 518,029 the number of samples tested negative stands at 503,379 while as 14,650 have been tested positive, among them 6122 are active and 8274 persons have recovered and 254 persons have died—(KNO)
